Seeing Edwards at the top of that list kind of surprised me. He rubs me wrong somehow, so I never really gave him as close a look as maybe I should.

MANY people I know who took this said it wasn't what was expected, and I really did my homework so I'm wondering how accurate it is. Not that I don't like Edwards, I would be happy if he or Obama got the nod. So I'm not trying to discourage you. It's just weird that so many people said "didn't expect that answer" on my flist. Including me. :P

To me, Edwards has a dishonest face. There is something sneaky there.

Yeah, that's it, exactly. I can't point at a single thing he's done or said that put me off him. There's just something about him I don't trust.

Can I just say that this is exactly why America is in the mess it's in? (Not just America, either). We chose leaders based, not on reason or even on their stated positions, but on our visceral reactions to them, often even to something as simple as their physical appearance or tone of voice.

Even those of us who claim/try our damndest to make "objective" judgments can't help taking these factors into account, because of course we're all human. We believe the exact same statement more from one person than from another because of long-outdated evolutionary hardwiring in our brains that tells us a person with a strong jaw is more trustworthy than a person with a whiny voice. It's utter nonsense, and many of us don't even know it.

So-- before we trust our "gut feeling" this time around, let's remember who's gotten into office that way in the past...

Hahaa... I don't think that there is another person on my friends' list whose results would be so far the opposite of mine.

I was surprised by mine too - mostly because I had never heard of Mike Gravel until I took the quiz :-) My top 3 were Gravel, Kucinich and Edwards, in that order.
